The 2011 Hummer H1 gets a makeover for 2006 and is rechristened the H1 Alpha. makeup revisions to what is already the most intimidating vehicle on the road include a restyled brush guard, new wheels, and a freshened interior with new aniline leather seats, revised controls, and more luxurious materials. General Motors' new 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V-8 engine generates 300 horsepower, which is 46 percent more powerful than last year's 6.5-liter version. It's mated to a more durable Allison five-speed automatic transmission that features a Tow/Haul mode to adjust shift patterns for optimal performance when the vehicle is towing or carrying heavy loads. An Off-Road Adventure Package features a 12,000-pound winch kit, wheel and tire upgrades, and front and rear Eaton locking differentials. The vehicle was manufactured from 1992 to 2006, and was the first of what became the Hummer line. It was originally known as a "Hummer", but in 1999 a joint venture between General Motors and AM General, GM began to market the Hummer H2, which was built on the Chevrolet Tahoe platform.GM and Hummer have officially decided to discontinue the Hummer H2 after years of lagging sales and a good deal of negative publicity that the car has brought to GM.In 2006, Hummer H1 is redesigned as H1 Alpha. The old 6.5 liter engine is replaced with 6.6 liter turbo diesel V8 engine with five speed automatic transmission. Of course, the result will be bigger torque and horsepower on the performance. The new version of Hummer H1 is 2 inches higher and more stylish.
